The FOTON was the second USSR attempt to produce an instant film camera.
But this time at Krasnogorsk, this "Russian polaroid" was to experience
the same fate as its predecessor, the MOMENT: at one time ready to be mass
produced (1,839 produced, all models confused) its "chemistry" was then
withdrawn.
It remained a bulky camera full of fortunate finds, but useless.
In 1990, the American firm POLAROID and the Ministry of Atomic Energy and
Industry signed an agreement for the production, at Obninsk, and distribution
of the Supercolor 635CL by Svetozor in the USSR.
